Bulldogs strong again in big win over Inderkum, 64-40

Folsom High's varsity girls' basketball has reached the Division I semifinals after beating Inderkum, 64-40, on Thursday night. Folsom had to worry about Inderkum's top player, leading scorer and Sac State commit, Jamiah Fontenberry, but held her to 15 points and held the Tigers to only 40 points, while the Bulldogs had scored 39 by halftime. A strong defense performance was key for the Bulldogs, and with an offense that doesn't care who scores just make them fun to watch. Sophia Mindermann led the way with 17 points. Aryn Bright scored 11, while Jada Tupou and Avery Masters both scored nine. Ava Rawlins chipped in seven points. "I loved our pressure tonight; our press was really effective," Folsom coach Lynn Wolking said. "We got pressure from the front line; discipline from the second line and a safety with Avery Masters waiting to gobble everything up in the back. "It was a beautiful game; high intensity for sure. What do they call it, survive and advance? Let's go baby." Bright scored six points in the first quarter; Mindermann scored five and Tupou had four, while Lily Bingaman and Masters hit threes to give Folsom an early 21-8 lead. The Bulldogs defense got even stronger in the second half, as they held the Tigers to only five points, while they dumped in another 18 to lead 39-13 at the half. It was more of the same in the second half, as the Bulldogs rolled to victory.
