Nicholas "Nick" Fox 9/14/1944 - 2/12/2025

Nicholas "Nick" Fox, 80, passed away on February 12, 2025, after a courageous nine-month battle with esophageal cancer. Born on September 14, 1944, in Centerville, Iowa, Nick grew up in Ames, Iowa, where he developed a love for sports and a strong sense of community. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1966 before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force. His 22-year military career took him across the world, including two years with his family in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel in Sacramento, California, in 1989 and then continued to work at Boeing for another 10 years. He remained in the Sacramento and Lincoln area until 2023, when he moved to Wake Forest, North Carolina to be closer to his children. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Nick's passion for competition and camaraderie never faded. He was a devoted fan of the Sacramento Kings, the San Francisco Giants, and his beloved Iowa State Cyclones. After retirement, he found joy on the softball field with the Lincoln Hills Coyotes, where he played, managed teams, and dedicated himself to the success of the softball club. His leadership, sportsmanship, and love for the game touched many lives. Above all, Nick was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly; his daughter, Brenna; his son, Matthew; and his five cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Paul and Danny, who shared in his lifelong journey and memories. His legacy of service, perseverance, and kindness will live on in all who knew him. Nick's love for life, his unwavering dedication to family and country, and his ever-present competitive spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. No services are planned.
