In Loving MemoryIt is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Douglass on January 30, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Boulder, Colorado, Joe was raised on a farm by his father Bill and mother Lucy, along with his older brother and two older sisters. It was there that he learned the value of hard work and dedication, lessons he carried with him throughout his life. Joseph met his wife, Karen, through a friendship with her brothers. Together, they raised their four daughters—Deanne, Stephanie, Kirstie, and Rochelle—in a beautiful home in Meadow Vista, California, which he helped to build with his own hands. As a father, Joseph was a guiding light, teaching his daughters the importance of independence and the value of hard work, instilling in them a strong business mindset that they carry with them to this day. He also cherished the time spent with his family, taking them on countless fun vacations and creating memories that will last forever. A passionate and hardworking man, Joseph ran a successful grading and paving business for many years, Douglass-Seaburg, Inc. His love for cars was evident throughout his life, from his participation in drag racing with the Throttle Merchants Club to his pride in restoring his beloved classic Oldsmobile. His love for cars was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his meticulous nature and his commitment to craftsmanship. Joseph was known for his strong work ethic, stubborn determination, and generous hugs. He was a strong man with a soft spot for those he loved, and he will be remembered for his sense of humor and warm smile. His kindness, strength, and ability to make others feel seen and loved will always be cherished by those fortunate enough to know him. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Karen, his four daughters, Deanne Worrell and her husband Paul Worrell, Stephanie Douglass, Kirstie Douglass, and Rochelle Stufflebean and her husband Rod Stufflebean, as well as his eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored deeply. His legacy of love, strength, and dedication will continue to live on through them. He will be missed dearly but never forgotten. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Auburn Fairgrounds Lion's Club Building. Sunday, March 16th at 2pm. 209 Fairgate Rd, Auburn 95603 Directions: Enter through the main fairgrounds entrance and proceed down the hill, then turn right. The Host Lions Club is the building with the green roof.
