Rocklin Ice Bowl cracks $1K for Loomis Food Pantry

The Rocklin Ice Bowl, an 18-year-old Rocklin tradition hosted by Final 9 Sports, contributed more than $1,000 to the Loomis Food Pantry on Feb. 22. Sixty-four disc golfers gathered around at Johnson-Springview Park to play their sport while committing to give back to the community. Ice Bowls have become a nationwide celebration. The foundation began in 1996. Rocklin's began in 2007. "These events take place during astronomical winter, with the winter solstice marking the start of Ice Bowl season each year. Facing the extreme elements fosters a unique atmosphere where camaraderie and charity combine," says the Ice Bowl Foundation website. While many events of the foundation face extreme weather, the Rocklin Ice Bowl enjoys mild California conditions. It was 66 degrees this year. "Each year, the collective impact of these tournaments grows, showcasing the generosity and determination of disc golfers everywhere to make a difference," said Jenny Knisley, the Ice Bowl organizer and owner of Final 9 Sports. Knisley highlighted the importance of assisting those in need within the county. "Food security is essential, and this event is a way for our disc golf community to give back to our local residents," she said. The 2025 group put together more than 500 pounds for the Placer County community. Want to give back similar to the Ice Bowl? Kinsley said the Loomis Pantry fundraising event is coming up. The Food Pantry will host an arts and crafts fair at the Loomis Train Station on Saturday, May 3. The event will benefit the food pantry and Loomis Senior LIFE Center.
