Charles Richard Swanson 7/1/1933 - 1/9/2025

Charles Swanson, 91, was born July 1, 1933 in Denver, Colorado and passed away on January 9, 2025 in Lincoln, California. Charles is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Swanson, his sons, Charles Swanson Jr. and Steven Swanson, daughter Lynette Jewett and 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Agnes Swanson and daughter Cynthia Dalla. Charles served as a linguist in the United States Air Force until his retirement in 1975, ending a 23-year military career at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He was fluent in at least three languages other than English. Following his military service, he went on to work for 20 years as an electrical engineer in the defense industry, retiring in 1995. Charles was an amazing cook and enjoyed sewing quilts and making bears. In his retirement, he spent time working harbor patrol while living in Discovery Bay and Monterey. Charles will be buried with military honors on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California.
