County, Buzz Oates Construction break ground on Placer Commerce Center

Placer County and Buzz Oates Construction broke ground on the Placer Commerce Center on Tuesday, April 22. The project is planned to be a major commercial-industrial business park targeting research and development firms, warehousing, distribution, e-commerce fulfillment, flex spaces, light industrial and manufacturing businesses. The Placer Commerce Center will be located on 393 acres on Athens Avenue and North Foothills Boulevard in unincorporated Lincoln. The center is estimated to employ between 3,500 to 5,000 people. The project applicant, Buzz Oates Construction Inc., plans to invest $750 million to $1 billion on the project build-out and anticipates attracting billions of dollars in private economic development investments in the county. The overall buildout of the project is to occur over 20 years. Buildings one, three and four are expected to be completed by the end of 2026. District 2 Board Supervisor Shanti Landon said, "This project represents a significant investment in West Placer County, an investment in our people, an investment in our future, and it will benefit our whole community. By fostering innovation and attracting top talent, the Placer Commerce Center will be a crucial part of what keeps Placer County a truly exceptional place to live, work, raise a family, own a business and retire." Board Chair Bonnie Gore said the project will strengthen the local economy. "We are excited about the future of the Placer Commerce Center. We envision it becoming a major economic engine for West Placer County, attracting diverse industries, fostering innovation and providing high-quality jobs for our residents," said Gore. "This hub will both strengthen our local economy and enhance the quality of life in our community."
