Folsom Pedal Quest kicks off Bike Month

The weather is ideal for a bike ride, and the Folsom area is one of the best places to go out and explore. May is "Bike Month," which is recognized nationally and locally. Folsom is kicking off the month with Folsom Pedal Quest, a free, family friendly bike adventure on Saturday, May 3. Folsom Pedal Quest, geared especially for families and recreational riders, is designed to encourage people to hop on their bike, explore the city, and become familiar with Folsom's extensive trails. Riders of all ages and skill levels will choose their "Quest" from self-guided routes, which are paved bike trails with minimal road riding. "Pedal Quest is a fun and flexible way for people of all ages to get outside, be active and explore Folsom's renowned trail system," said Folsom Parks & Recreation Director Kelly Gonzalez. "Whether you're riding one mile or 30, it's a great day to enjoy the outdoors and connect with the community." Participants will choose from eight routes, ranging between 1.5 miles and 30 miles, all beginning and ending in Historic Folsom. Routes are self-paced and self-guided, marked with color-coded pavement arrows and supported with route maps. Rest stops with self-serve water and stickers will be available throughout the trails. Stickers can be turned in for raffle prizes, including tickets to the Folsom Pro Rodeo. Little riders ages 3-6 can join in on the fun by participating in the Balance Bike Bash. Kids will race on balance bikes around a mini obstacle course, with fun features including a bubble wrap "rock garden," mini rumble strips and a pool noodle wall. "Folsom Pedal Quest is a celebration of what makes our city so special — outdoor adventure, connected trails and community spirit," said Joe Gagliardi, CEO of Choose Folsom. "Events like this bring residents and visitors together, support our small businesses and showcase why Folsom is a premier destination for active living." Folsom Pedal Quest is co-presented by the city of Folsom and Choose Folsom and organized by Clipped In for Life. Space is limited to 500 riders. Reserve your free spot at www.folsompedalquest.com. Check-in on the day of the event is between 9-11 a.m. at the train depot on Wool Street. Balance Bike Bash races will take place every half hour from 9:30 a.m.-noon, with room for 25 kids at a time.
