Roseville DMV announces Saturday hours for REAL IDs

With the mad rush to get REAL IDs, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) on Tuesday announced its Roseville office at 7200 Galilee Road will offer REAL ID appointments on Saturday, May 10, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. These hours are only for customers with appointments to get a REAL ID. Other DMV services will not be offered. "We're pleased to offer additional appointments for Californians who need to get their REAL ID," said DMV Director Steve Gordon. "We recommend that if you already have a valid U.S. passport or don't need to fly within the U.S. in the next few months to wait to get your REAL ID when you renew your California driver's license or ID card." The federal government was set to start enforcing the REAL ID Act on May 7. It requires people to show a REAL ID or another approved federal document, such as a U.S. passport, to board domestic flights and access secure federal facilities. Californians can continue to apply for their REAL ID after the enforcement date. Californians should visit REALID.dmv.ca.gov to start their REAL ID online application and upload their documents. Customers must visit a DMV office and bring physical copies of their uploaded documents to complete the application. The DMV strongly encourages customers to make an appointment and complete the online application beforehand to help reduce wait times. By starting the process online and making an appointment, it should take only about 20 to 30 minutes in the office.
