Vernon Krause 4/16/1932 - 5/10/2025

E. Vernon Krause passed away in Vacaville, CA on May 10, 2025, after a short illness. He was born on April 16, 1932, in Logan, Utah, the son of A. Vernon and Phyllis (Keveren) Krause. He attended Placer High School in Auburn, CA, where he met his future sweetheart and wife, Jean Rae Webber. Vernon and Jean married in 1951 when he was on leave from the U.S. Air Force, and upon her graduation in 1952, she joined him where he was stationed in Alaska. Vernon was a draftsman in the Air Force for four years and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Vernon earned a B.A. in Education and Art & Industrial Arts from California State University, Chico, and later earned an M.A. from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Vernon was a public-school teacher for 42 years, teaching art and industrial arts from Kindergarten through College, as well as Adult Education classes. He was a highly skilled artist and craftsman, from oil painting and drawing to woodworking and metalworking. However, his natural gift for teaching and mentoring younger friends, family members and students with kindness and encouragement is his greatest legacy. Vernon and Jean and their two daughters spent 9 years living in Vermont, where he became active in the local Colchester Historical Society. Vernon and Jean opened an antique shop and spent many happy hours attending auctions and driving the country roads in search of items for their shop. Vernon became an expert at furniture restoration. Preceded in death by his parents; sister Alyce (Krause) Hansen; wife Jean; and sons-in-law Norman Beaudoin and Reggie Degree, Vernon is survived by daughters Valory Degree and Karla Krause-Miller (Bob Miller), granddaughter Anne Beaudoin-Bell (Jamai Bell), and grandson John Beaudoin. Vernon's memorial will be held on Saturday, June 7th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2700 Camrose Ave., Fairfield, CA, 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kids & Art Foundation (https://kidsandart.org) to provide art materials and lessons for children with critical medical conditions.
