Cavaliere to replace White as new AD at Oak Ridge

Oak Ridge High School administration has chosen Eric Cavaliere to replace Steve White as the school's athletic director. White had been the school's athletic director since 2002 but retired at the end of the school year. Cavaliere, 56, has coached at the school dating as far back as 1998 when he was an assistant coach on the varsity football team and has taught at the school since 2007. He was the head coach of the varsity football team from 2007 to 2020 and now coaches the varsity girls' flag football team. He also coached the junior varsity golf team for a few years, as well as the rugby club team. Cavaliere is currently a health teacher at the school. "I'm very loyal to Oak Ridge High School," Cavaliere said. "I love Oak Ridge, the athletic program and the community. This is just a way for me to dig my roots in deeper and be a part of the school and the athletic program and the community. "The timing is really good for me. I had a really fun, enjoyable career of coaching football that ended in 2020. I've had five years to catch my breath and I'm ready to take on a new challenge. "I feel like this is the next progression in my career. Being involved in sports for more than two decades, it seemed like the natural progression to take." Cavaliere is excited to be the school's new athletic director. "I have a tremendous interest in our sports programs and seeing them excel and giving our student athletes the experiences they deserve," Cavaliere said. "I think that's something I can help with and I wanted to be involved. I consider myself fortunate to get the job."
