Excitement builds for AC Marriott Hotel coming to Folsom's Palladio

Progress continues to be made on construction of the AC Marriott Hotel in Folsom's Palladio, and on Tuesday, community leaders turned out to celebrate what's been accomplished so far with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event was hosted by the Folsom Chamber of Commerce and attended by various community leaders, including Folsom Mayor Sarah Aquino, who jokingly said she looked forward to checking into a room if her husband got on her nerves, and then shop at Nordstrom Rack and enjoy one of the nearby eateries in the Palladio. The comment was met with much laughter, but the point is precisely what supporters of this project tout: a hotel offering the utmost convenience in terms of being in the heart of one of Folsom's premiere shopping and dining locations. City Councilwoman Barbara Leary was an early supporter of this project: She was on the Planning Commission between 2018-22, when she voted to approve it. Leary said she believes the hotel is going to be a boon for the city. "This location is advantageous for the shopping center next door, the Palladio; it's got a lot of shops and restaurants and it's right off the freeway so it will draw more visitors into Folsom," said Leary. "I think it's a great economic decision to have these paired on this site." The AC Marriott is being developed by Insignia Hospitality Group and will be a modern, five-story, high-end hotel with 130 rooms, including executive suites, and amenities like a fitness center, meeting spaces and a lounge. The hotel aesthetic is designed to complement Palladio's European-inspired architecture. It sits on the corner of Broadstone and Palladio Parkway, across from Dave and Buster's and Nordstrom Rack. The 85,000+ square-foot hotel will replace a portion of existing parking space near Broadstone Parkway. Folsom city officials say the site has long been planned for this type of use and this project was carefully reviewed to ensure it aligns with city planning standards. Leary said while new construction and growth in the city can be a sore point for some residents, this project is a good example of new development being compatible with the neighborhood it's being built in. "It was actually a large parking lot that got very little use on this side of Palladio, and is not really the main entrance when most residents come here. There are some shops down this way but a lot of the activity tends to be at the other end," explained Leary. "I think this will actually enhance the activity on this side and maybe help the Palladio fill any empty spots they have this way and activate this section more." City officials say hotels also bring economic benefits, including transient occupancy tax revenue. The AC Marriott in Palladio is expected to be completed and ready for business by summer of 2026.
