Groundbreaking for Sutter Folsom Care Complex promises state-of-the-art medical care

The Folsom community is fast becoming a hotbed for state-of-the-art healthcare, with several new medical facilities scheduled to open for patients in the next few years. One exciting addition to the community's expanding healthcare options is Sutter Health's planned new Folsom Care Complex; and on Wednesday, June 11, Sutter officials and community leaders took part in a ceremonial groundbreaking celebration of the new facility. The complex, on E. Bidwell and Iron Point Road, will be a 106,500 square-foot campus which will offer primary care along with a range of specialty services and modern outpatient surgery center, with surgeons on site who can perform same-day procedures. One especially compelling aspect of the new facility will be its full-service Sutter Advanced Cancer Center, which will provide comprehensive cancer care from diagnosis to therapy. This cancer center will allow patients to avoid the longer drive to Sacramento or Roseville, and receive such things as infusion and radiation therapy in their home community. Warner Thomas, president and CEO of Sutter Health, said they are thrilled to expand their services in the Folsom area. "We're proud to expand access to high-quality primary and specialty care for the growing communities along the Highway 50 corridor and surrounding areas," said Thomas. "Building on our more than a century of caring for Northern Californians, and with our roots right here in Sacramento, today's groundbreaking reflects our continued investment in the broader region." The Sutter Folsom Care Complex will expand its urgent care resources, and will be equipped with in-house imaging and lab services. Sutter Health will also expand its primary care services at its nearby medical plaza location at 2575 East Bidwell St., which is 1.5 miles away. The current urgent care services offered at the medical plaza will transition to the new Sutter Folsom Care Complex as part of the expansion. When the Sutter Folsom Care Complex opens, it will bring together 27 new specialty and primary care physicians with four existing physicians, offering services in primary care, urgent care, heart and vascular, dermatology, endocrinology, ear nose and throat, gastroenterology, imaging, lab, neuroscience services, women's health services, cancer services, orthopedics, pain management, plastic and reconstructive surgery, surgery and urology. The proximity of the new Sutter facility is expected to be convenient for those coming from nearby communities, as it is right off Highway 50; Sutter officials expect to treat patients not just from Folsom, but from Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills, Placerville, Rancho Cordova and other surrounding areas. The Sutter Folsom Care Complex is being built through a partnership between Sutter Health and Elliott Homes, which owns the property. The site is part of the larger Broadstone development that includes the Palladio shopping center, commercial offices and thousands of homes. One Sutter doctor said he's looking forward to offering medical care to an even wider range of people in the region. "As a physician, I'm excited to see the new Sutter Folsom Care Complex bring together primary, urgent and specialty care, including cancer, imaging and lab services in one integrated setting," said Sutter Medical Group Chief Medical Officer Dr. Karun Grossman. "This coordination will help us diagnose and treat patients more efficiently, reduce delays and improve outcomes. I'm especially enthusiastic about bringing top specialists to Folsom so patients can receive expert cancer and other care close to where they live and work." The new Sutter Folsom Care Complex is expected to be open by fall 2027.
