Wildfire Preparedness Expo set for June 21 in Auburn

As peak wildfire season approaches, Placer County residents are invited to the Wildfire Preparedness Expo on Saturday, June 21, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., hosted by CAL FIRE/Placer County Fire Department at Bowman Fire Station 10 in Auburn. This free, family friendly event is designed to equip the community with critical information and resources to better prepare for wildfires, protect homes and strengthen neighborhood resilience. "Every year, we are reminded of the growing threat wildfire poses to our communities," said District 5 Supervisor Cindy Gustafson. "Events like this are essential for helping residents understand what they can do to prepare and keep themselves and their neighbors safe. It's also a great opportunity to build community around a shared goal: resilience." Attendees will have the chance to learn about home hardening, fire-safe landscaping, evacuation planning and emergency preparedness, as well as meet with local fire safety professionals. Fire rescue equipment displays will be available, along with complimentary hamburgers and hot dogs. "Our goal is to meet people where they are and provide the tools they need to be proactive," said CAL FIRE/Placer County Fire Chief Brian Estes. "The better prepared our communities are, the better we can protect lives and property when disaster strikes."
