Bulldogs Back Home football camp draws a crowd

About 100 youth football players enjoyed the Bulldogs Back Home football camp held Saturday at Vista del Lago, as pro football players and Folsom High graduates Jake Browning, Josiah Deguara and Jonah Williams "came home" to put on the free football clinic. The three pro players had plenty of help, as Folsom High head football coach Paul Doherty and slew of Folsom High graduates including Tyler Crandall, Cole Thompson, Dano Graves, Cody Creason, Bailey Laolagi, Parker Boone, and Dean Wightman, among others, helped out with the camp. The youth football players were run through eight stations focusing on different parts of the game. The stations included a running back station focusing on agility and ball handling, a ladder drill focusing on agility, a passing and pass catching station where players threw and caught passes, a defensive back station, another cone station where kids raced each other, another agility station where kids jumped over bags, a tackling station and a blocking station to learn the techniques of offensive linemen. Browning, a quarterback with the Cincinnati Bengals, put on his annual Sac-Town 10 camp on Friday and joined his former teammates Williams and Deguara for the Bulldogs Back Home camp on Saturday. Williams, who plays for the Arizona Cardinals, enjoys the camp. "It's nice to get the crew together from Folsom," Williams said. "A lot of these campers weren't even born when we were playing here, but it's fun to come out and give back to the community and have some fun at the same time." Deguara, who joined Williams in Arizona after playing a season with the Jaguars, also had a good time. "I love doing the camp and giving back to the community that I grew up in," Deguara said. "Being able to coach the young kids coming up in the Jr. Bulldog program and all around Sacramento and just letting the kids have a good time and have fun learning football is fun. "Also, getting back home and being able to see former teammates, friends and coaches while giving back to the community I grew up in is important; giving back to the next generation, it's a blessing to always get back home and do that." Williams joked, "I played with Jake in Cincy and now Josiah is with me in Arizona. I don't know if their following me around or what but we're sticking together."
