Roseville's 50-70 All-Stars fall to Ponderosa in championship game

Roseville's 50-70 All-Star team won its first three games of the District 54 All-Star tournament before losing its final two in a pair of championship games. On June 13, Roseville won the opening game, 15-14, over Ponderosa, in a game they should have lost. Ponderosa was three outs away from a 14-7 win, but allowed Roseville to score seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game before winning it in the bottom of the eighth when Brennan Meyer hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Jayce Nunez for the winning run. In the bottom of the seventh, Ponderosa led 14-10 with two outs before a run scored on an error and then Dawson Nelson-Kipp cleared the bases with a double to tie the score at 14. Roseville then had an easy time with Folsom National, winning 13-6, before beating Hangtown, 13-10, to reach the championship game on Saturday. Meanwhile, Ponderosa fought its way through the loser's bracket quite convincingly, winning three games by outscoring their opponents 39-11. Ponderosa beat Lakeside, 12-3, Folsom National, 17-8, and then blanked Hangtown, 15-0. In Saturday's championship game, it was all Ponderosa, as they avenged the earlier loss to Roseville with an 11-0 victory in five innings. On Sunday the team's met again in the final game of the tournament and Ponderosa proved they were the better team with a 10-2 victory. Roseville fell behind 6-0 before scoring one run in the top of the fifth when Jude Neumann grounded into a fielder's choice scoring Nunez. The second run scored in the top of the sixth inning when Ivin Rodgers singled in Meyer.
