Placer SPCA celebrates key accomplishments for 2024, with grander plans for future

From finding homes for thousands of animals to breaking ground on a new, much-needed veterinary and foster care center, 2024 was a banner year for the Placer SPCA. The Placer SPCA has released its 2024 Annual Report and said the year was one of extraordinary impact, community recognition and major milestones for companion animals across Placer County. Some of the statistics from 2024 reveal how many animals were saved or impacted by the Placer SPCA: * 2,335 animals were adopted into forever homes. * 408 lost pets were reunited with their families. * 2,030 animals received spay/neuter surgery before being adopted. * 840 animals received critical care through the Guardian Angel Program. * $354,025 was raised through the Placer SPCA Thrift Store. * More than 70,000 volunteer hours supported the organization's mission. Another key accomplishment was breaking ground on a new Veterinary and Foster Care Center, an 8,800 square-foot facility that will dramatically expand Placer SPCA's capacity to provide advanced medical care for shelter and community animals. Now in its 52nd year of service, Placer SPCA continues to expand its lifesaving mission while supporting the growing needs of animals and the people who love them. "In our 52nd year of caring for animals in Placer County, we strengthened our commitment to keeping animals safe, healthy and on the path to forever homes," said Leilani Fratis, CEO of Placer SPCA. There were also heartwarming, significant stories of success that came out of the Placer SPCA in 2024, such as caring for 110 rabbits that were rescued from a home and the reunion of a cat named Rayne, whose family lost him while vacationing in Yellowstone Park. Rayne mysteriously ended up in Roseville, where he was found and taken to the Placer SPCA; workers there were able to find his family in Salinas and orchestrate a tear-filled reunion.
