El Dorado Hills Fire Dept. welcomes new engine

The El Dorado Hills Fire Department excitedly welcomed it's shiny new Engine 91, which will serve the communities of El Dorado Hills, Latrobe and other areas of El Dorado County. Its home is in Station 91 in Latrobe. To ring in the new engine, EDH fire held a fire service tradition known as a "push-in ceremony," where firefighters, along with members of the community, physically push the new apparatus into the fire station. EDH fire officials said this tradition dates to the days of horse-drawn fire engines, honors the history of firefighting and welcomes a new engine into service. Fire Chief Mike Lilienthal along with members of the fire department and community were on hand for the occasion. There was also a symbolic Water Transfer from the old Engine 91 into the new Engine 91, which symbolizes the "passing of the torch" to the new apparatus, which will be responding to emergency calls out of Station 91. According to EDH fire officials, this new engine is the first EDH Fire apparatus with the new grey over red paint scheme. It is a 2025 Pierce Type 1 pumper with a 500-gallon water tank and is not only for structural firefighting but also comes equipped with "pump and roll" capabilities utilized in wildland firefighting. This fire engine also comes equipped with auto extrication tools, rope rescue equipment and advanced life support medical gear for several types of emergency calls that can occur in the district.
