Lincoln FFA wins big at Placer County Fair

Lincoln High School's FFA chapter won big at the Placer County Fair. The agriculture program brought 26 members to compete with six winners earning titles such as Grand Champion Market Goat and Grand Champion Beef. Jacob Willhite, Lincoln's FFA advisor, said the fair is a great way for the students to showcase their livestock projects. "Some of these members have had animals as long as eight-plus months, and it all culminates here," he shared. "As an advisor, fair is one of my favorite times because we get to see our kids out with their animals in the show ring, and it brings out a different side of them than what we see in the classroom." Lilyana Petersen, a 2025 graduate of LHS, shared she's thankful for being part of FFA. "I have been an active member of the Lincoln FFA chapter for the past four years and have had the privilege of exhibiting livestock at county fairs for the past three years," Petersen said. "This experience has taught me invaluable life lessons in responsibility, perseverance and dedication." She won Reserve Champion FFA Market Goat. "Being recognized for the time, effort and care I invested in my project was an incredibly rewarding experience," she shared. "Although I will miss showing livestock, I am thankful for the memories and growth that have come from these experiences, as well as the unwavering support I have received from my community." Other winners include: Dotty Lefty won Grand Champion Market Goat and Champion FFA Market Goat. Annalynn Armistead won Reserve Champion Replacement Doe. Garrett Baser won Champion Replacement Heifer, Grand Champion Beef Showman, Grand Champion Project & Champion FFA Project, and third place FFA Master Showmanship. Aiden Maul won Reserve Grand Champion Beef Showman. Samantha VanSant won Champion and Reserve Champion Single Fryer.
