Colfax High graduate receives Robinson Award

Anna Reimers recently received a $2,000 check from the Colfax Lions to recognize her high school and college scholarship. The Robbie Robinson Award is given in honor of a past Colfax Lions president who was a career engineer. The award recognizes Colfax students who excel in Math, Science or Engineering and is designed to support students as they pursue a scientific career. Reimers was a standout student at Colfax High School and earned a 4.0 grade-point average. She was a volunteer at Acres of Hope and a local women's and children's shelter. She was an athlete, having lettered on the Colfax Alpine Ski Team and served as co-president of the school's Environmental Club. To qualify for the award, a student must complete their freshman college year in engineering, life or physical sciences with at least a 3.0 GPA. Reimers is a physiology and neurobiology major at UC Davis and far exceeded the grade threshold in her freshman year. Colfax Lions Scholarship Chair Ted Huss said, "Colfax Lions are thrilled to help Anna on her way to a successful college experience and to achieving her life goals." Reimers stated, "I am in credibly grateful to the Colfax Lions for awarding me this scholarship. Their support helped to motivate me to excel in my first year at UC Davis."
