Folsom American needs one more win

It's now or never. Folsom American's Little League's 9-10-year-old All-Star team has done the improbable: win four games in four days to reach the championship game of the Section 4 All-Star game Wednesday night in Rancho Cordova. Now they just need to do it one more time. It's do or die time for real now. If Folsom American wins, they advance to the state tournament in Eureka. If Land Park wins, they will advance. On Tuesday night, Folsom American glided out to a 7-0 lead after three innings and all was going well until the fifth inning, when Land Park scored five runs on the scoreboard and definitely put a scare in Folsom American, who went on to win the game, 7-5, but had to use up a pitcher that they would have liked to have thrown Wednesday, if necessary. "We used more pitchers than I wanted to," Folsom American coach Brandon MacLeod said. "It was a tense situation at the end and the boys did a good job to close out the game. I would have liked to win 7-0, but we won the game and that's the most important thing. "We've still got who I consider our best pitcher for tonight and he can throw 75 pitches. Hopefully, that will get us through at least four innings. Then we've got three more pitchers we can use. It just depends what the score is and what the game situation is in terms of who we use." MacLeod said whichever team wants it more will win tonight. "They're a really good team, a really good hitting team," MacLeod said. "We played really good defense last night and will have to do the same tonight. We've also got to avoid the walks. It's win or go home now. It's about who wants it more. We've got to be hungry tonight."
