Afternoon of the arts in support of Acres of Hope

The community is invited to enjoy an afternoon of celebrating the arts while supporting a local nonprofit. Immersed: A Display of the Arts will feature various forms of art at the Branches at the Carnegie in support of Acres of Hope. According to Jackie Turner, event organizer and Acres of Hope ministry outreach coordinator, each room will feature a different experience. Talents include dancing, singing and theater by Royal Stage Theater; spoken word by Jackie the Street Preacher (Turner); paintings; and music by artists such as Wendolyn Rose, Andrea Lynne, Sonny Set Free, Theo Klutchin and Pastor Henry V. In addition to supporting Acres of Hope, Turner said this event marks the last fundraiser she hosts for the nonprofit and wants to bless the organization after close to seven years of service and seeing how lives have been changed and the cycle of homelessness ended through Aces of Hope's mission. "As a last kind of hoorah here, I just really want Acres to be blessed," Turner said. "From the time I came in, I saw how real the impact was for Acres of Hope to be changing lives and I still believe and am passionate about that mission." Although she's transitioning to pursue personal goals and be closer to family, Turner said she will continue to volunteer with Acres of Hope when possible. "One thing that Acres of Hope has taught me is family is always worth fighting for, so in that vein … I would love for the community to come and help me show how much love there is for Acres. Let's do this transition honoring them, blessing them and cheering for them." Immersed: A Display of the Arts will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Branches at the Carnegie, 175 Almond Street in Auburn. Donations for Acres of Hope will be accepted at the door. Turner confirmed individuals who want to provide monetary support to Acres of Hope but are unable to attend Saturday can do so by visiting acresofhopeonline.org.
