Law regarding retired teachers needs to be changed

Please help me keep the quality of California education as high as possible; I am very serious. The California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) has a law it must follow indicating that retired California teachers can teach in any state in the nation without losing their retirement income EXCEPT California. The quality of education in California can be vastly improved if we get a new law that allows California retired teachers to return to work in California and not lose their retirement pay. Many retired teachers did not start teaching originally until they were in their 50s so I am asking you to call your state representative and make that request to change the law, making it possible for retired California teachers to return to work without losing their retirement income. I live in Auburn, and my representatives are Roger Niello, whose phone number is 916-651-4006 and Joe Patterson (916-319-2005). Please call them and make the above request if you live in Placer County. Find your State Assemblymen if you live elsewhere and call them. This is very important for California upcoming students and the quality of our educational system. Sanchez Auburn Opposed to industrial 'park' off Blocker Drive I have lived in Auburn for 23-plus years. I am strongly opposing the proposed industrial "park" to be built off of Blocker Drive. If approved, this would have a negative impact on the entire area. This area is part of the rich history of Auburn: the old cemetery, the fruit shed area as well as Spanish flat. There were even signs erected to commemorate their significance. There is also Spanish Creek to consider. The industrial "park" would most definitely have a negative impact on it. This creek is part of a system that feeds salmon habitat and should be protected at all costs. The proposed site is also home to a variety of trees, native plants, birds and wildlife. Nesting hawks have been there for more than 13 years. The traffic on Blocker Drive (currently used as a bus terminal), Nevada Street and Elm would be overwhelming. These small-town streets weren't designed to adequately handle the additional car and truck traffic the "park" would generate. We live in this quaint, historic, small town for a reason. I would hate to see a portion of its natural beauty covered in concrete. Please join me in attending the public hearing on Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. at City Hall to voice opposition to the industrial complex being considered for our town. Do we really need one?
