Folsom Community Service Day registration opens

Volunteer registration for Folsom's 12th annual Community Service Day opened Monday, Aug. 4, as the city prepares to mobilize hundreds of volunteers for the Sept. 20 event. The daylong initiative, organized by the city of Folsom alongside local businesses, nonprofit organizations and community stakeholders, will deploy volunteers of all ages across numerous projects designed to benefit the entire community. Since its launch, Community Service Day has generated significant community impact with more than 23,150 volunteers contributing to the effort. The program has collected more than 645,000 pounds of food for the Twin Lakes Food Bank, completed more than 1,050 projects for schools, parks, nature preserves, trails, the Folsom Public Library and Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary. Additional accomplishments include completing 620-plus exterior home repairs and maintenance projects for senior citizens, assembling thousands of care packages for active duty military service members and collecting donated items, including bicycles, eyeglasses, shelter pet supplies and holiday gifts for local nonprofits.
