Jim Wall

James Richard Wall III, affectionately known as Jimmy, recently passed away due to cancer at his family's home in Chico. He was born in Auburn on June 24, 1953. Jim was well-known in Auburn helping local businesses, supporting Placer athletic teams, and as an avid fan of the Northern California Races. On June 28th, the Placerville Speedway and Andy Forsberg representing the racing community made the June 28th races a "Tribute to Jimmy Wall." He was awarded The Gold Card Member No. 1 and "The 8 Pill Jimmy" trophy. He was honored in the recent 4th of July Parade riding in a Bucket Model T. Jim said he didn't know just how famous he was! Jim was an artist and made many cards and posters for his neighbors and friends. He enjoyed ceramics and working with wood, making his famous beaded boards. He was known for his love of constructing and gifting model cars to race winners and friends. Jim is survived by his siblings Margaret (Dan), Greg, David (Cindy), and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families. He was predeceased by his father Jim, mother Dorothy, and Dianne (Red). Jim's family wishes to thank the folks of Auburn Ravine Terrace, Alta Regional Center, Placer High Athletics, the racing community, and the many friends and businesses who watched out for and greeted Jim as he made his rounds. We wish to recognize and thank Enloe Hospice and Jim's niece Mallorie (RN) who cared for him so compassionately. A memorial celebration will take place in the Earl Crabbe Gym on the Placer High campus at 1 pm, Sunday, August 24. Jim was a Special Olympics athlete. Donations may be made to the Special Olympics of Northern California in lieu of flowers.
