Here's a look at the football schedule

The following is a week-by-week look at Folsom's, Vista del Lago's and Oak Ridge's football schedules. Week 1 - Aug. 22 – Vista del Lago at Laguna Creek – Vista opens on the road playing against a playoff team a year ago that went 5-6, a team they beat at home in an excitingly close game, 33-27. It will be a good test for the young Eagles. Oak Ridge at Frontier – This is a big test for the Trojans, as Frontier posted an 11-4 record a season ago and won the Division III-AA state championship. Earlier in the season, Frontier also beat Oak Ridge, 28-14, in the opening game of the season. Aug. 23 - Folsom at Grant – These teams haven't met since 2021, a game in which Folsom won 54-0. In fact, since Grant defeated Folsom in the 2010 season-opener on ESPN, 49-14, the Bulldogs have beaten the Pacers five out of six games. No game has been closer than 21 points. This year's game could be broadcast on ESPN too. Week 2 – Aug. 29 - Vista del Lago at Bradshaw Christian – Say what you want about Vista playing a school that it outnumbers by 1,400 students. Last year, Bradshaw Christian visited Vista del Lago and beat the Eagles, 50-48, in arguably the Eagles most exciting game of the season. This year Vista travels to Bradshaw Christian and will no doubt want to avenge last year's defeat. Oak Ridge at Mission Hills – If you thought their game against Frontier in Bakersfield was a long way from home at 300 miles away, this game in San Marcos is 210 miles further, as the Trojans play a second straight game a long way from home. Mission Hills went 8-3 a season ago and I don't think the Trojans would travel so far if they weren't going to play a competitive opponent. Aug. 30 – Folsom at Serra – This 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon game will be a big one. These teams have played the last three seasons and all three games have been decided by seven points or less in Serra's favor, including their 22-21 victory last season. Folsom's senior class would love to win this year's game on the road. Week 3 – Sept. 5 – Granite Bay at Vista del Lago – These two teams met in 2021 and 2022, two competitive games won by Granite Bay, and renew the rivalry again this year. Granite Bay will look to win a third straight game in the series, while the Eagles will be looking for their first win. Folsom at Mission Viejo – The Bulldogs make the 454-mile trip south to Mission Viejo to face a team that only lost one game a season ago to Centennial, who lost the following week to Mater Dei, the champions of the open division. This will be an interesting game to see who comes out on top. Oak Ridge – BYE Week 4 – Sept. 12 - St. Mary's at Oak Ridge – The Trojans will be playing their first home game of the season on this night when they finish off the non-league portion of their schedule with St. Mary's. The Rams have two playoff wins against the Trojans in 2016 and 2017, a team that has posted a 40-9 record over the last four seasons. This will be a big test for the Trojans. Oakdale at Vista del Lago – The Eagles will be hosting Oakdale, a team they've never beaten in five meetings. Last year they lost 55-21, and that's the type of beating the Mustangs have given the Eagles in the past. We'll see if things are any different when it's the Mustangs that have to take the long bus ride to the game. Sacred Heart Cathedral at Folsom - The Bulldogs will also be playing their first home game of the season on the new blue turf against Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep, a team that comes from San Francisco. This team has struggled for a number of years, so the Bulldogs will have to be careful and not overlook the opponent. Week 5 – Sept. 19 - Folsom at Rocklin – Folsom opens Sierra Foothill League play on the road against the Thunder. After beating Folsom in 2021 and playing three close games against them, Rocklin had it handed to them last year by the Bulldogs, 51-14. Does the series revert back to a competitive game this year, or will it be another Folsom butt-whipping this time? Oak Ridge at Del Oro – In the last 10 meetings between these two teams, the Trojans have won eight, the last loss coming in 2021. Since then the Trojans have beaten the Golden Eagles by 14, 7 and 21 points. We will see if the Trojans can keep the win streak alive this year. Vista del Lago at Rio Americano – The Eagles open Capital Valley Conference play against a team they've never lost to in 11 meetings, but last year's 49-44 victory was the closest the Raiders have ever come to beating the Eagles. Can they edge closer or even beat the Eagles this season? Week 6 – Sept. 26 – Christian Brothers at Vista del Lago – The Falcons are Vista's greatest rival. The teams have met 13 times over the years and the Falcons hold the series lead, 7-6, thanks to last year's 36-28 win. Most every time these teams play it's a good game so you don't want to miss it. Granite Bay at Oak Ridge – After winning three of four between 2018 and 2021, Granite Bay has dropped three straight games to the Trojans, each one by more points than the previous game, from one point to 11 points to last year's 30-17 loss. The Grizzlies want to turn things around for sure, but will the Trojans allow it? Folsom – BYE. Week 7 – Oct. 3 - Oak Ridge at Folsom – After a few years of good, competitive games, last year Folsom went back to beating their arch-rivals pretty badly in their two meetings, outscoring the Trojans, 76-7. I'm not sure what this year has in store, but Folsom does have Ryder Lyons for one more season and in total returns seven starters on offense. Will Oak Ridge be up for the challenge? Inderkum at Vista del Lago – These teams met for the first time as league opponents a season ago and the Tigers won big, 64-21. Vista will be looking to avenge that defeat this year on their home turf. Week 8 - Oct. 10 – Vista del Lago at Woodcreek – These teams met for the first time last season at Vista del Lago and in a competitive game, the Eagles came out on top, 28-24. It was a game Woodcreek felt they should have won. They will be out for revenge. Oak Ridge at Jesuit – These teams played for the first time since 2013 a season ago, a 23-3 Oak Ridge win. In fact the teams' five meetings since 2010, Oak Ridge has won all of them. Can Jesuit pick up a win this season or will the Trojans keep rolling? Folsom at Del Oro – It's hard to believe that the closest game between these two teams since Folsom joined the Sierra Foothill League came in 2022 when Folsom won by 27 points, 34-7. The Golden Eagles will try to win this one after 11 straight losses against the Bulldogs. Week 9 - Oct. 17 – Whitney at Folsom – Folsom has won all seven meetings against the Wildcats, the closest game being 27 points. The Wildcats would no doubt love to be in a competitive game with the Bulldogs this season. Monte Vista at Oak Ridge – Monte Vista from Danville has been a sub-.500 team the last three years and this will be the first meeting between these two teams. The Trojans will be looking for a win here before the team's last two regular season games. Vista del Lago – BYE Week 10 – Oct. 24 – Jesuit at Folsom – The Bulldogs have won 15 straight games against the Marauders dating back to 2008. They played some close games over the years, including a 22-21 OT playoff victory by the Bulldogs in 2021. Will this be the season that Jesuit breaks Folsom's win streak? Vista del Lago at Ponderosa – Vista del Lago has won five straight games against the Bruins, the closest game coming last season in a 40-19 win for the Eagles. Vista looks to continue their dominance over the Bruins this year. Oak Ridge at Whitney – After defeating Oak Ridge in 2021, the Wildcats have lost three straight games to the Trojans, the closest game being 35-9. The Trojans hope that that pattern continues. Week 11 – Oct. 31 – Rocklin at Oak Ridge – Oak Ridge broke Rocklin's five-game win streak over the Trojans with a 17-6 win in the rain last year. The last three years, these teams have played close, low-scoring games. Don't expect this one to be different. Bella Vista at Vista del Lago – It's been since 2009 that Bella Vista's football team last had a winning record. That's was Vista's second year of varsity football. In their first meeting last season, Vista won, 35-0. Don't expect this game to be much different. Granite Bay at Folsom – Heading into last year's game against Folsom, the Grizzlies had scored at least 21 points in four straight games against the Bulldogs, including a 31-21 win in 2021. A season ago, the Bulldogs won 48-10. Can the Grizzlies give Folsom a better game this season?
