City of Folsom hiring teen center workers

Folsom is hiring part-time staff for various positions at the CAVE Teen Centers for the school year, including a site leader and recreation leader positions, the city announced last week. Both roles offer a fun and rewarding opportunity to work with middle school students in a safe, engaging and positive environment. Site leaders oversee daily operations, plan and lead activities, supervise part-time staff and build strong connections with teens, parents and the community. This position is ideal for candidates with leadership skills, creativity and a passion for youth development. Recreation leaders assist with after-school activities such as sports, arts and crafts, games and more, creating a fun space where teens can connect and thrive. Both positions work weekday afternoons and require applicants to be at least 18 years old and CPR and First Aid certified. Prior experience working with youth is preferred. Applicants are encouraged to join the team and help make a difference for Folsom teens. The CAVE program, or Center for Active & Vivacious Engagement, offers a safe and structured environment for middle school students in grades 6-8. Part of the Folsom Parks & Recreation Dept., the program focuses on providing enrichment activities, leadership opportunities and social skill development. The program includes various activities, field trips and opportunities for teens to connect with their peers. The CAVE Teen Centers are located on the Folsom and Sutter Middle School campuses. Pre-registration is required to attend. Monthly fees for the 2024-25 school year: * $100/month from August through May. * The fee is averaged since some months have more days than others. * Scholarship opportunities are available through the PLAYRS program. * Spaces are limited and wait lists will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. New ePACT paperless registration system: * The CAVE program does not allow drop-in attendance; pre-registration is required. * After you register, you will receive an email from ePACT, a secure, HIPAA compliant, cloud-based health and emergency platform that will house the necessary forms to complete your child's registration. * CAVE registration is currently open; ePACT documents were emailed July 29. * The enrollment fee covers the $100 tuition for the first month. * Once you are enrolled, auto-billing will occur on the 25th of every month through April. * Register for Folsom Middle School CAVE: activity code 310543 * Register for Sutter Middle School CAVE: activity code 310544 Activities and resources Recreation leaders engage the teens in activities, including pool, pingpong and video games, organized group games and contests, arts and crafts, movies and outdoor games and sports. CAVE also provides a quiet room for students who want to work on their homework. Locations and hours * The CAVE Folsom Middle School Blue Ravine campus is in Room 122, a triple-wide portable behind the two-story building. * The CAVE at Sutter Middle School is on the Riley Street campus, Room S-3 on the Persifer Street side. * Both caves are open Monday through Thursday from class dismissal until 6 p.m., and Friday until 5:30 p.m. The schedule includes all early dismissal days.
