$25k reward offered for arrest of Cameron Park bank robbers

CAMERON PARK - Wells Fargo bank is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for an armed robbery of its Cameron Park branch.Three suspects, at least one armed with what appeared to be an assault rifle, entered the Palmer Drive location Aug. 19 and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash."Wells Fargo's top priority is for the safety and well-being of our customers and team members," said Kevin Barri, Wells Fargo market president.No one was injured during the 10 a.m. robbery.Lt. Bryan Golmitz, of the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, said that one began shouting at those inside the bank to get to the ground.The second suspect reportedly jumped over the counter and demanded money. The third suspect stood at the front door of the bank as the robbery took place.The trio fled the Bel Air shopping center bank in a late-model Honda four-door sedan which was later found abandoned in a nearby neighborhood.As of press time. the suspects remained at large.The brazen nature of the crime has some in the area concerned."This is peaceful Cameron Park," said Phyliss Huntinton. "I've lived in this area for decades and don't recall this level of violence. I'm just glad I wasn't shopping that day. How frightening."The three suspects are described as males possibly in their 20s.Their ethnicity could not be established as of press time due to clothing covering worn during the robbery that covered their features.The suspects were last seen wearing hooded sweatshirts, some sort of covering over their faces and jeans.This isn't the first incident of its kind in the area.In February, the Check into Cash business, located in the same shopping center, was robbed by an armed gunman.The suspect walked around the counter and drew a handgun and demanded all the money, officials said.The suspect, described as a black male in his early 20s, approximately 5-feet tall and weighing 115 pounds, made off with more than $1,000.He has yet to be apprehended.Anyone with information on either robbery is asked to contact the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office at (530) 621-6600.
