Experience amazing ranger stories at Folsom Public Library on Sept. 6

Former Park Ranger Rosanne S. McHenry, also known as "Ranger Rose," will give an engaging and entertaining book talk on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Folsom Public Library, 411 Stafford St. McHenry was a U.S. National Park Ranger and California State Park Ranger for many years, working in a variety of parks in California and Washington. She has written two humor-filled books about the life of a park ranger. "Most people have no idea what a park ranger REALLY does," McHenry laughs. "It's not just a walk in the park, it can be quite wild at times." With stories like The Stolen Picnic Table, Wild Goose Chase, The Forgotten Pig, Ranger Rules to Live By, Attack of the Killer Caterpillars and Last Chance Outhouse, attendees will find themselves laughing out loud at the antics of park visitors and critters as McHenry regales them with true tales like you've never imagined. "People love hearing the stories of the adventures park rangers face, because most of us have had laughable experiences on day outings and adventure trips. Even so, these stories are extremely funny and unusual, and are guaranteed to keep everyone entertained," McHenry says. The presentation will include readings from both books: "Trip Tales: From Family Camping to Life as a Ranger," and "Tales From a Rogue Ranger." Trip Tales is all about how hilarious family camping experiences as a child inspired McHenry to become a National Park Ranger at Marin Headlands/Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and Mount Rainier National Park in Washington. Tales From a Rogue Ranger is about her years working at Folsom Lake State Precreation Area and Auburn State Recreation Area, so people will love hearing stories about their favorite local places. Following the readings, there will be a question-and-answer session, a free prize drawing for several fun giveaways and a book signing. Copies of both books will be available for $15, cash or check.
