Placer-Sierra Railroad Heritage Society discusses 'Colfax at 160'

The Placer-Sierra Railroad Heritage Society meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 26, will be by local historian Roger Staab presenting Colfax at 160: Celebrating Railroad Changes That Redefined the Region. As a companion to this year's annual Colfax Railroad Days event the weekend of Sept. 13-14 that honors the town's 160-year link to the transcontinental railroad, the PSRHS program will look at railroad-related changes that have occurred in Colfax and along the Donner Route since the town was created by the railroad in 1865. Some changes were physical, track realignment for example, while others were cosmetic or altered operations. Hear how an accident near Colfax of a passenger train pulled by one of the early famous Cabforward locomotives resulted in changes to the locomotive that led to its future success. You are invited to join the society for this walk through time, looking at selected changes to the nation's first transcontinental railroad.
