Roseville approves $2 million City Hall makeover contract

Roseville officials this month approved a $2.2 million contract to renovate the City Hall Council Chambers and lobby. Prompted by safety concerns in 2023 and a 10-year space plan showing that the council chambers are undersized, officials evaluated upgrade options about the headquarters. A study recommended enlarging the Chamber, building a secure expanded lobby and adding an adjacent conference room. After comparing expansion with full reconstruction, staff chose the most economical solution: Extend the lobby so it doubles as overflow seating for high-attendance meetings while enhancing security. The project will also refresh Chamber finishes, plus upgrade media lighting and HVAC systems. A new conference room would be built to host closed-session meetings and provide staff space during regular sessions, freeing seats in the Chamber. When Council is not in session, the new space will relieve the Civic Center conference room shortage. Required accessible path-of-travel and restroom upgrades are also included. The Roseville City Council approved a contract Aug. 6 with Z Squared Builders as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for $1,977,820. The unanimous vote was during the non-controversial consent agenda. Additionally, the council authorized change order requests up to 15 percent, or $296,673 as a contingency, for a grand total of $2,274,493. Funding is available in the Public Facilities Fund and the Cable TV Public, Educational and Governmental Fund for the project, staff said.Roseville City Hall is getting renovated for roughly $2 million, officials said.
