30 looks good on Auburn pet care store

Incredible Pets of Auburn is throwing itself a well-deserved celebration for 30 years in the business of pet retail and care. In a time where corporations have sprouted a wide variety of stores in big and small towns alike and put several family-owned shops out of business all across the nation, Incredible Pets hasn't just survived – it's thriving. Started by Jack and Sharon Love in 1995, daughters Katie Love and Krista D'Auria are, as Katie Love told the Auburn Journal recently, "honored to carry on for them and keep the second generation going running the business." There are now five Incredible Pets locations, including Grass Valley, Carmichael, East Sacramento and in the Greenhaven neighborhood in southwest Sacramento. The original Auburn store opened July 5, 1995, in the Bel Air shopping center where Dollar Tree is now and later moved to 1775 Grass Valley Highway. Now, Incredible Pets plans to move soon to the Raley's shopping center on Lincoln Way and Foresthill Road, off Interstate 80. Katie Love said a "big, giant customer appreciation" is planned for December. "We always do a big sale on the first weekend in December; we do it every year," she said. "Everything is on sale. We try to have vendors and samples and just fun things. We're trying to make it a little bigger with some giveaways, raffle prizes and things like that." Love describes Incredible Pets as a retail store with primarily food and supplies. Incredible Pets also offers toys and a self-serve wash. "We like to say what makes us different is we really try to help our pet parents find the right food, the right options for every family and every budget," Love said. "We are about helping you find what's right for you – the latest and greatest in pet food, and it can be really confusing. "It's amazing to see the way the company has grown and the community has continued to support us," she said. "We're proud we've made it that long and we've been able to grow the business. We employee almost 50 people throughout the region. It's a good place to work and a good place to shop."
