Auburn celebrates life of Jimmy Wall

Friends and family of Jimmy Wall honored the beloved Auburn man with a celebration of life Sunday, Aug. 24, at the Earl Crabbe Gym at Placer High School, where Jimmy spent considerable time watching Hillmen basketball games. Wall, who was 72 when he passed away in late July, was honored with two symbols that describe his legacy – a plaque with his photo, which will be mounted under the "HOME" sign on the wall inside the gym, and a broom, showing his love of sweeping. Wall was an honorary member of the fire department and the pit crew for Andy Forsberg's No. 92 sprint car, which was parked outside the gym. Also on display were medals Wall won in the Special Olympics. "What a wonderful time of celebrating the life of our wonderful 'honorary Mayor' Jimmy Wall today," Cheryl Brown posted on social media. "There (was) laughter and tears as stories were shared by family, friends and community members. It was so obvious how very well loved he was by this lil town of Auburn. Here's to you Jimmy. Thank you for being such a beacon of light and love to all of us!"
