Redistricting, plus Jewish Voices for Peace presentation The Auburn Area Democratic Club (AADC) will present two topics on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the Rose Room of City Hall. Placer County Democratic Club Chair Nick Bennett will explain how redistricting will affect our Congressional district, and there will be a Q&A. He will be followed by David Mendel, who will talk about Jewish Voices for Peace. You do not have to be a member of AADC to attend the meeting. A social hour will start at 5:30 p.m. Pizza and a drink are available for a $5 donation per slice. Parking can be tight, so carpooling is recommended. Fishing guide to speak Fishing guide Cal Kellogg will be the featured speaker at the next meeting of Auburn Gold Country Rotary on Thursday, Sept. 4, at Awful Annie's, located at 13460 Lincoln Way. Auburn Gold Country Rotary meets every Thursday at noon. The title of Kellogg's presentation is "My Fishing, Writing and YouTube Journey." This should be an entertaining and informative presentation. Coffee Talk hosts Auburn Mayor Amara Coffee Talk will host Auburn Mayor Sandy Amara on Wednesday, Sept. 3. Amara will share, in her words, "recent developments in Auburn with an emphasis on the future of Auburn and its unique qualities." Coffee Talk will meet at 9 a.m. at Awful Annie's Restaurant, located near Ikeda's, just off Interstate 80 in Auburn. A no-host breakfast will be available. Coffee Talk is an informal forum of smart, open-minded people who have no particular political agenda but rather a common interest in the communities of Auburn, Grass Valley, Nevada City and surrounding areas. Parkinson's Support Group meets The Auburn Parkinson's Support Group will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Awful Annie's Cafe (Annex), 13460 Lincoln Way. She will give an update on what's happening in Placer County and touch upon the redistricting issue, which will be on the November ballot as Prop. 50 and has Governor Gavin Newsom's support. Feeding the Foothills to hold fundraising luncheon September is National Hunger Action Month and as longtime volunteers of Feeding the Foothills (formerly the Placer Food Bank), the Lincoln Democratic Club is taking action by hosting a fundraising luncheon on Sept. 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Feeding the Foothills facility in Roseville. All proceeds from the luncheon will be donated to the food bank to serve the community. In one recent year, Feeding the Foothills served more than 1.1 million individuals in Placer, El Dorado and Nevada counties. It distributes food to 80-plus hunger relief organizations in the three-county area, where its PantrytoGo program has free drive-through locations in 10 communities. Feed the Foothills receives support from Feeding America and many area businesses and organizations but always needs more support to meet its needs. Granite Bay's Hearts Landing Ranch to host 'Harvest Pour' event Oct. 11 Experience an Evening of Hope, Horses, and Harvest at a Unique Equine-Assisted Therapy Ranch Hearts Landing Ranch, a nonprofit organization in Granite Bay dedicated to Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy and mentoring programs, announced its annual Harvest Pour event on Friday, Oct. 11, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Set against the serene backdrop of the ranch, Harvest Pour is more than just an evening out — it's a celebration of healing, transformation and community. Local businesses co-hosting benefit golf tournament for Acres of Hope Spoor's Heating and Air Conditioning and La Fornaretta Sicilian Restaurant are co-hosting the first Tee Off for Tomorrow charity golf tournament to support Acres of Hope on Monday, Oct. 20, at Dark Horse Golf Course in Auburn. Entry fees are $175 per player, $650 per foursome. A hole sponsorship costs $550 and a hole sponsorship plus a foursome costs $1,200.
