Placer Repertory Theater announces 2025-2026 main season, casting

"Corruption & Obsession" is the theme for Placer Rep's 2025-2026 main season, which includes the brand-new play Dracula: an Interactive Melodrama, by T.S. Forsyth, based upon Bram Stoker's novel; the February 2026 show: an abridged, small-cast version of Shakespeare's Hamlet, adapted by Stacey Winn; and the April 2026 show: T.S. Forsyth's adaptation of Sherlock Holmes: The Strange Case of Miss Faulkner (original play by Conan Doyle & Gillette). Each play offers on-script performances for two weeks in a series of pre-booked venues in Rocklin, Auburn, Roseville and Lincoln, and then are available for bookings through June 30, 2026, featuring a talented cast of regional actors. "For 2025-2026, Placer Rep selected an archetypal theme relevant both locally and globally. Corruption & Obsession are engines that drive conflict and change. Our three play choices this season explore corruption as seen from the perspective of our heroes," said Forsyth, producing artistic director, who shared this season's plays were selected because together they represented individual, social, political and business corruption, which awakes the protagonists from stasis to obsession over the corruption, until finally action is taken in hopes of righting wrongs, but at what cost? · Dracula: Count Dracula, a member of the wealthy ruling class, is sucking the lifeblood from the honorable hard-working citizens of local communities. Is Van Helsing's obsession with stopping Count Dracula's corruption enough, or will Harker's love for Mina drive Harker into action to right the wrongs? This deliciously tongue-in-cheek play is an interactive melodrama not to be missed. It is a wonderful candidate for booking into retirement communities, colleges, middle and high schools or as a fundraiser or evening entertainment for civic organizations. · Hamlet: The government is corrupt as Uncle Claudius kills Hamlet's father, marries Hamlet's mother and makes himself the king. Claudius' corruption drives Hamlet to obsession, depression and ultimately a decision to seek revenge. In Placer Rep fashion, Director Stacey Winn will not treat Shakespeare as too precious and elevated – she will find the humor and humanity in the play that is often overlooked. · Sherlock Holmes: The Strange Case of Miss Faulkner. Nefarious business mogul Moriarty is at it again, corrupting business transactions and people through his unlawful tactics for domination. Obsessed with thwarting crime and ensuring justice, Sherlock Holmes and the allies he employs might be Miss Faulkner's only hope. The cast of repertory actors bringing these plays to life include Carson Sloan, Anthony DePage, Tristain Sloan, Katie Elson and John Cablao, with swing actors Mark Hoffman, Stacey Winn and Forsyth. Storytellers Theater includes a show, plus an interactive lesson plan, experiential learning and performing opportunities for the audience, and a study guide.
