Ain't Necessarily Dead Fest returns to Auburn with 10-plus bands, 2 stages

The Ain't Necessarily Dead Fest returns to Auburn's beautiful Regional Park on Saturday, Sept. 13. This event has grown to be one of the most anticipated all-day FREE musical festivals in Northern California. With two stages of non-stop music, a giant shakedown street art and craft faire, huge beer garden and food court and fun Kid Zone, there is something for the entire family to enjoy. As the name implies, the music of Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead are for sure a part of the fun, but there is much more. Look forward to hearing some amazing tributes and takes on the likes of Pink Floyd, Little Feat, The Allman Brothers Band, Bob Dylan, Phish and much more. There are more than 10 bands this year, each bringing their unique take on the music we all love and presenting it in a way that brings everyone together on the dance floor. The Auburn Recreation District (ARD) is the host for this amazing day, and man, do they create some fun. The staff takes pride in the selection of the food and craft vendors to again work to bring something that will bring smiles to all in attendance. While one can bring their own picnic, ARD encourages folks to support the vendors, as that is a big part of how this day of fun is presented for free. Of course, the sponsors are a major part of keeping this event free, starting with the amazing local 1849 Brewing from Grass Valley, which returns as the event's major sponsor. 1849 is a big believer in community and live music, and they really show it by their support of this event. Joining this year for the first time as a sponsor is Boochcraft Kombucha, which will bring a fun selection of its product for those whose adult beverage choices go beyond great beer. ARD reminds all to please thank the Auburn Odd Fellows, a local service club that also has been supporting this festival for many years and will bring wine and margaritas. And for the kids and others, not to worry – from snow cones to lemonade, there are plenty of options to quench one's thirst. The event kicks off at noon with music on the Homegrown Stage. Attendees are strongly recommended to come early for the best parking options, not to mention picking out that special spot on the grass to spend the day. All ages are welcome, but ID is required for those who may want to have an "adult beverage." The only real rule at the event is "NO Mean People" – after that, folks are asked to respect each other and enjoy the day. Also know there is a limited number of camping sites available.
