Zamora, Ingargiola lead Trojans

Oak Ridge ran well at the Soiree Invitational on Saturday at the Sunset Whitney Recreation Area in Rocklin. The Soiree Invitational featured 4-x-mile relays for girls, boys as well as co-ed teams and also featured heats of 3,000 meter races afterwards. Oak Ridge entered eight coed relay teams and three boys' teams that raced well. If runners placed in the top-five of their 3,000-meter heats they earned a T-shirt. Oak Ridge had two runners do that, as Roman Zamora took second in the top heat of the day, posting a time of 9 minutes, 6.4 seconds, while Adriana Ingargiola also earned a top-five finish by placing third in the top heat of the girls' race, posting a time of 10:48. "Roman and Adriana raced at a very high level," Oak Ridge cross country coach Rob Fairley said. "They are seeing all their hard work with their training is paying off for them. Senior Thomas Capelli also had a terrific race placing sixth in the Soiree race and just missed getting a T-shirt." The Oak Ridge boys' placed third in the meet trailing only league rivals Jesuit and Davis. Following Zamora and Capelli in the race were Bailey Van Leemput (16th, 9:42.9), Ben Gutierrez (27th, 9:54.1) and Austin Mackovic (39th, 10:11.8). For the girls, following Ingargiola were Emi Madsen (11th, 11:07.7), Giuliana Martino (13th, 11:09), Maya Day (14th, 11:10.8) and Lauren Tiedeman (5th, 11:11.6). The Oak Ridge girls placed second to St. Francis, 45 to 53. The team's next meet is a big one, as the first league meet of the season takes place on Sept. 17 at Sunset Whitney Recreation Area at 8:30 a.m.
