Roseville's Placer Valley Soccer Complex is 'Power Playground'

The Roseville City Council last month approved a naming rights deal with Roseville Electric to title the kids' play area at the Placer Valley Soccer Complex the "Power Playground" for three years. Roseville Electric Utility will pay $25,000 per year for the Power Playground naming rights after another bidder backed out, staff said. "These funds will support operational and replacement costs at the playground," said Jeff Nereson, Roseville Parks & Rec Manager. " This playground, the city's largest to date, is designed to be inclusive for children of all abilities." The 10-field, lighted, artificial turf Placer Valley Soccer Complex at 2600 Westbrook Drive broke ground in 2023 and is expected to officially open by year's end, staff said. "The complex will be a sports destination unlike any other in the region, attracting tournaments and outdoor sporting events," said Roseville Parks Director Jill Geller in the council report. The venue will draw attendees from far outside of Roseville and provide much-needed fields for Roseville youth and adult sports groups. The fields are suited for a variety of sports, including soccer, football, lacrosse, rugby, field hockey, Quadball and more, said Geller. Power Playground features accessible play structures that encourage social and imaginative play, as well as a designated quiet space for those who may need a break from sensory stimulation. An adaptive restroom facility supports the needs of all visitors. The Roseville City Council approved the naming rights at the regular meeting Aug. 20.
