Great American River fall clean-up scheduled for Sept. 20

Join the Auburn SRA Staff, Protect American River Canyons, the Canyon Keepers and your river-canyon friends for the annual Fall River Cleanup this Saturday, Sept. 20, from 8 a.m. to noon. The theme this fall is to support the Placer County Hwy 49 Bridge debris removal project that will make the river safer for all types of river recreation. In support, volunteers will remove trash and graffiti from the Confluence area trails and beaches. Meet at the Confluence kiosk near the Hwy 49 river crossing to sign in, receive your supplies and snacks. There will be a Canyon Keeper-led historical bridges and river ecology hike beginning at 8:30 a.m. Pick up trash as you learn about river history and ecology. Don't miss the interpretive table that features replica skulls of Ice Age animals that roamed the canyons. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water and sunscreen. Parking is free – but limited – in the morning for volunteers. Carpool if you can.
