Rocklin's Adams sidelined Friday night against Folsom

Rocklin High School will be without head football coach Jason Adams in this week's Sierra Foothill League opener against Folsom, as he has been placed on administrative leave, the Rocklin Unified School District confirmed. "Rocklin High School is looking forward to cheering on its players during their game against Folsom High School," said RUSD Chief of Communications and Community Engagement Sundeep Dosanjh in a statement. "The school's interim varsity football coach, Tim Kenney, is in charge while Jason Adams is on leave. Rocklin Unified does not comment on confidential personnel matters." The Thunder are 3-0 this season with wins over Turlock, Reno-Bishop Manogue and Stockton-Lincoln. Kenney served as acting head coach during Rocklin's win over Lincoln on Sept. 12, when Adams was suspended one game after the Sac-Joaquin Section sanctioned the program for using eighth-graders in a 7-on-7 camp last April. Adams has guided the program to an SFL championship in 2021, a Division II section crown in 2023 and section championship game appearances in 2021 and 2024. Before serving as head coach, he was the defensive coordinator under Greg Benzel and helped lead the Thunder to the 2009 state championship game. This marks one of several coaching shake-ups across the region this week. Christian Brothers head coach Larry Morla was absent from the sideline during last week's Holy Bowl against Jesuit after being placed on leave, and Del Campo's Matt Costa stepped down from his role for personal reasons.
