Flag football teams "battle for the belt"

You've heard of the Crosstown Cup before in sports battles between Folsom and Vista del Lago sports teams; we'll now we've got the Battle of the Belt. That's right! Friday night at Vista del Lago High School the Eagles junior varsity and varsity girls' flag football teams will be taking on the Folsom Bulldogs in the first battle of the belt. The winning team will receive a championship belt and will keep it for a year until the next game. "Folsom is our natural cross-town rival so that gets the community involved," Vista coach Aron Henderson said. "It's a big rivalry game. It's not going to boost our rankings, but we're 9-2 and want to keep it rolling. The belt the winning team gets has the battle for the belt logo that we came up with plus the logo of both teams." There's more. This will also serve as a salute to service game, honoring the community's service members, who gain free admittance with proof of service ID or badge. Join the programs in honoring active or retired military, police, firefighters, nurses, EMS, dispatch, as well as educators. "We will also have a flyover," Henderson said. "It will be a great night to come out and watch flag football and salute our service members. We played Folsom early in the season and knocked their socks off, so I know they will come in feeling hungry." The junior varsity game starts at 6 p.m. with the varsity game following at 7 p.m.
