Placer Artists Tour's newest artists to showcase works

The public is invited to the New Artist Showcase from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25. Meet the amazing variety of artists who are new to the Placer Artists Tour. The artists will be on hand with a selection of their work, which will be available for purchase. Join in for a social evening of seeing the work of the newest artists while enjoying delicious food and beverage provided by special host Hotel Vista Sierra at 13535 Bowman Road in Auburn. Community forum scheduled on healthcare cuts The reconciliation bill passed by Congress in July includes cuts to Medicare, Medi-Cal and Affordable Care Act insurance subsidies. These cuts threaten local residents' access to healthcare. To address these threats, the Auburn Area Democrat Club (AADC) has organized a Community Forum with four healthcare professionals who will speak to what the cuts could mean for the community. The Community Forum will take place Thursday, Sept. 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the Placer County Health & Human Services building at 11434 B. Avenue in Auburn. There is no charge for this program. The event is open to the public, although it is best to register in advance to guarantee a seat. These organizations see the majority of the people in the region who could be impacted by the cuts, and they are already stretched in providing care. We have all experienced these calls, and often it is difficult to detect their legitimacy. Agostini will discuss the latest scams to be aware of. Local businesses co-hosting benefit golf tournament for Acres of Hope Spoor's Heating and Air Conditioning and La Fornaretta Sicilian Restaurant are co-hosting the first Tee Off for Tomorrow charity golf tournament to support Acres of Hope on Monday, Oct. 20, at Dark Horse Golf Course in Auburn. Entry fees are $175 per player, $650 per foursome. A hole sponsorship costs $550 and a hole sponsorship plus a foursome costs $1,200. The cost includes green fees, range balls, a cart, lunch and an event T-shirt. Foursomes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of payment.
