Strummin' Sistas and donations

On Sept. 26, the Strummin' Sistas brought music and joy to Village 19 at Sun City Lincoln Hills. The talented ukulele group, now in its fifth year of entertaining our community, delighted neighbors with their lively performance and uplifting songs. The Strummin' Sistas have become a beloved tradition, sharing their music and spirit throughout the development. "We are also part of 'Potpourri,' a larger group of entertainers who perform at local senior care facilities," said Ninette Murray. "We play upbeat, fun songs back to the 20s, 30s and 40s as well as rock and roll. We like to enhance our songs with our kazoos!" Also, my artwork "Lonely Tree" will be featured in the KVIE Art Auction on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 4:30 p.m. to bid on air. I'm honored to have my work included for the last 20 years of auctions. To donate to your community, you can donate money, goods or your time to charities, schools or neighbors by volunteering, running a food drive, organizing a clean-up or offering your specific skills to help others. You can also support local businesses and spread positive messages on social media to build community spirit and support local causes. Years ago, my first donation was to volunteer in a hospital as a candy striper, which led me to become a nurse. After working for a while, I went back to school at CSUS and graduated with a degree in art and photography. That is when I started donating my art to the KVIE Art Auction and the Crocker Art Museum, Big Names Small Art for 20 years. For 16 years, I have been volunteering for the Lincoln News Messenger. Just recently, I started volunteering my photography to my church, the Lincoln Community Church. I like it when everyone wins!
