Roseville WellSpace Health clinic opens at former church near Interstate 80 interchange

WellSpace Health cut the ribbon last week on its new Community Health Center in Roseville near the Highway 65 interchange at Interstate 80. Local dignitaries gathered for the ceremony at the former Lighthouse Church building, visible from the freeway, on Sept. 24. At 16,000 square feet, the clinic will provide outpatient primary care, pediatrics, women's care, behavioral care and dental care, with a focus on family-oriented care. This new health center is expected to serve nearly 40,000 patients each year. "Our mission is achieving regional health through high-quality, comprehensive care, and we believe that to do this, everyone must have access," said Dr. Jonathan Porteus, chief executive of WellSpace Health. The Stonehouse Court site off Taylor Road features 22 exam rooms and 16 dental chairs, with about 50 employees on staff daily, officials said. It's the first Medi-Cal-dedicated dental facility in Placer County, authorities said. The clinic will also be home to an innovative OB/GYN residency program, in partnership with longtime teammate Sutter Health. Doctors from Sutter Roseville Medical Center will rotate through WellSpace's Women's Health program, helping to bridge the gap for women who will deliver babies at the hospital, officials said. "Sutter Roseville Medical Center shares our dedication to the improved health of Placer County," said Porteus. "This partnership is an opportunity to strengthen our commitment to the best care for all of our patients while also shaping the next generation of physicians to better understand and serve the diverse needs of our communities." "The opening of the Placer Community Health Center is a win-win for patients who will have access to trusted, high-quality care closer to home, and for the next generation of physicians who gain valuable experience supporting patients preparing to deliver at Sutter Roseville Medical Center through our OB/GYN Residency Program," said Rachael McKinney, president of the Greater Sacramento Division of Sutter Health. Sutter Health invested $2.9 million toward the Health Center's construction. "The new WellSpace Health facility will fill a huge need in the community by providing much-needed care to people who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it," said U.S. Representative Kevin Kiley, whose 3rd Congressional District includes all of Placer County. "Thank you to everyone in the community who helped bring this facility to Roseville, and I look forward to the positive impact it will have on the community."
