Family Day out in Apple Hill offers fall fun

My kids and I headed to Apple Hill last Friday for a day of autumn adventures, and despite a minor parking setback, we made the most of this beloved Northern California destination. We started our morning at 10 a.m. at O'Halloran's Apple Trail Ranch, where the kids eagerly filled bags with crisp apples straight from the trees. Our plans hit a snag at 11 a.m. when we arrived at Grandpa's Cellar, ready for baked treats, coffee and cider flights. Unfortunately, the parking lot had no space for my large SUV, so we reluctantly moved on to our next destination. We pulled into Apple Ridge Farms for lunch and a new set of activities. The kids navigated the hay maze with determination, tried their hand at mining, and we all enjoyed a peaceful flower walk around the property. It was the perfect midday break. Our adventure concluded at 1:30 p.m. at Hidden Star Camino, where an epic playground kept the children entertained while we savored baked treats. The playground lived up to what I had seen on social media, offering something for my kids and the grown-ups who needed a moment to relax. Despite missing Grandpa's Cellar, Apple Hill delivered on its promise of fall family fun, reminding me why this collection of El Dorado County farms remains a seasonal tradition for so many Northern California families.
