Lincoln Regional Airport going vertical with major expansion

Lincoln Regional Airport, long the "forgotten stepchild" of the city, is now in expansion mode. Developer Ed Soo, a Lincoln Airport pilot, existing hangar owner and developer, is putting his passion for aviation, and Lincoln, where his money is. Soo is building more than 112,000 square feet of hangar space, including 30 large hangars that can accommodate one large aircraft or several general aviation aircraft, and 16 T-hangars for individual general aviation aircraft. "This is the largest privately built hangar development in Northern California in 20 years," Soo said. Soo's Project Full Throttle website states the hangar build "represents a collaborative effort with the City of Lincoln to bolster aviation infrastructure, stimulate economic growth, and position Lincoln Regional Airport as a premier aviation destination within California. It will not only invigorate the local economy but also generate employment opportunities, fostering the development and well-being of the Lincoln community." Phase 2 of his personal master plan is for another 50,000 square feet of hangar and office space along Flight Line Drive, which would include space for large aircraft, maintenance services, airport management, and a restaurant. The lifeblood of general aviation airports is fuel sales. Phases 1 and 2 will significantly increase this revenue stream by adding hangar opportunities for new, and larger, aircraft. The build will also add to the airport's other major source of revenue, ground lease income.
