Driver of stolen dump truck leads Roseville police, CHP in chase

A man driving a stolen dump truck led Roseville Police and later CHP officers on a chase from Roseville to the Sacramento area on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Roseville Police said they responded to a call around 4 p.m. to a report of a stolen Mac dump truck in the area of Angus and Fiddyment roads. Officers arrived to the area and discovered the stolen truck being driven by a man, but when they tried to initiate an enforcement stop, the driver kicked off a pursuit. The chase began south on Fiddyment Road to Baseline and then headed west on Baseline into Sacramento County, according to Roseville Police. At that point, the suspect driver was in Sacramento County, so the California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit. The dump truck eventually crashed on eastbound Highway 50 near Stockton Blvd., according to police; there were no reported injuries. The driver of the stolen truck was identified as Vinesh Pal, 38. He was taken into custody without incident. Police said Pal was arrested and booked into South Placer Jail for charges of evading police by driving against the flow of traffic, felony evasion, possession of a stolen vehicle, vehicle theft and felony vehicle theft with priors.
