Blood donations critically low; key blood drives scheduled

With blood donations critically low due to the holidays and the need for a constant supply of blood high, a series of blood drives are scheduled in the region. In Folsom, Vitalant is holding a community blood drive at the Palladio at Broadstone on Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment at donors.vitalant.org and use blood drive code SMFM895 or call Vitalant at 877-258-4825. Walk-ins will be accommodated if space allows. Donors will receive one in-hand coupon for a large popcorn from Palladio 16 Cinema. Donors will also be entered into a Vitalant drawing for a chance to win one of 26 $500 gift cards. In El Dorado Hills, there are two blood drives scheduled. District Church at 7000 Rossmore Lane will host a community blood drive Monday, Jan. 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Donors will be entered into a Vitalant drawing for a chance to win one of 26 $500 gift cards. Donors are encouraged to make an appointment at donors.vitalant.org and use blood drive code SMFR481or call Vitalant at 877-258-4825. Walk-ins are welcome and will be accommodated if space allows. Another El Dorado Hills blood drive will be held Thursday, Jan. 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the bloodmobile bus in the El Dorado Hills Community Services District Park parking lot at 1021 Harvard Way. Donors will also be entered into the drawing to win gift cards. Donors are encouraged to make an appointment at donors.vitalant.org and use blood drive code SMFM019 or call Vitalant at 877-258-4825. Walk-ins will be accommodated if space allows. Blood donors must be at least 16 years old and there is no upper age limit. Donors must weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, be in good health and bring a photo ID. 16-year-olds must have a signed Vitalant parent consent form, available online at vitalant.org.
