Family of killed Roseville child demands justice, asks for support

The family of a 7-year-old Roseville girl who was killed, allegedly at the hands of her mother and live-in boyfriend, is demanding justice and appealing for help from the community. The girl's aunt is speaking out and representing the heartbroken family as they come to grips with this horrific crime. The events unfolded on Dec. 22. Roseville Police responded to a call of an unresponsive child in the 200 block of Oahu Court. Upon arrival, they discovered a 7-year-old girl, Adalynn, badly injured and unconscious. She was taken to a hospital and later died from her injuries. Police also found an injured 5-year-old in the home, Adalynn's sister Amelia; she was taken to a hospital and is recovering. Two other children were found in the home uninjured and were placed in Child Protective Services. After an investigation, police arrested 26-year-old Jessica Savangsy, the children' s biological mother, and 27-year-old Retuquel Dupree, who was Savangsy's live-in boyfriend and reportedly the father of the two children who were uninjured. Now, the girls' aunt, Keosopheap Long, who is the sister of Adalynn and Amelia's biological father, has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for mounting expenses. Long has also been vocal on social media, demanding justice for the loss of her niece. On the GoFundMe page, Long describes the unbearable reality her family is coping with. "Our family is facing an incredibly painful time after the sudden and heartbreaking loss of my niece, Adalynn. The shock of her passing has left us devastated, and we are now trying to honor her memory by giving her the dignified farewell she deserves," said Long. "The costs of her funeral and memorial are overwhelming, and we want to ensure that ADALYNN is laid to rest with love and respect." Dupree and Savangsy are in South Placer Jail, facing charges of murder and two counts of torture. As the court document filed by the Placer County District Attorney's Office describes, the couple allegedly committed the crimes "with the intent to cause cruel and extreme pain and suffering for the purpose of revenge, extortion, persuasion and for a sadistic purpose, inflict great bodily injury." Not only does the family want justice, Long said on the GoFundMe page her brother wants custody of his surviving daughter, 5-year-old Amelia. "... My brother Bruce is fighting to gain custody of his youngest daughter, Amelia. Amelia is now facing life without her beloved sister and is struggling with the trauma of not only this loss but also the abuse she endured from her mother and her mother's boyfriend," detailed Long. "Bruce is doing everything he can to provide Amelia with a safe, loving home and the therapy she needs to heal from these experiences. The financial burden of legal fees, therapy, and starting over is immense, and our family is reaching out for help." Dupree and Savangsy were denied bail during their first court hearing, which was held Dec. 24. In an odd turn of events, each agreed to jailhouse interviews with ABC10. In those interviews, the pair blamed each other for the alleged abuse. While the details are difficult to hear, Long is hopeful to bring even more attention to the case with her posts and the GoFundMe page. "We want to gain justice for Adalynn, Amelia, and Bruce, and to bring attention to the need for justice for other children who have been failed by the system," said Long. "Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease the burden on Bruce and Amelia, and ensure that they have the support and resources they need to move forward. Your kindness and generosity will make a real difference in their lives during this heartbreaking time." Dupree and Savangsy are scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 3.
