Christmas tree recycling event in Folsom on Jan. 10

Folsom residents can dispose of Christmas trees and help the environment at the annual recycling event Saturday, Jan. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rodeo Park, 200 Stafford St. Trees will be chipped and mulched for use as a natural soil amendment. Before disposal, remove all lights, decorations, tinsel, tree stands and nails. Artificial or flocked trees will not be accepted. For safety reasons, Rodeo Park will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists during the event. To access the Johnny Cash Trail, use alternate entrances at Riley and Scott streets, Leidesdorff Street or East Natoma St. Options Nonprofit collection, Jan. 10: Local nonprofits will offer curbside neighborhood pickup services. Green bin service: Recycle trees in the Green Bin during regular service. Trees must be cut into pieces no longer than two feet and four inches in diameter. Ensure the lid closes completely to receive service. Fresh wreaths and garlands are also "green bin approved" after removal of hooks, ribbons and wire.
