Alleged Auburn home burglars could be facing charges

Two men who allegedly stole thousands of dollars in Auburn residents' property could be facing Placer County charges. Eric Dasher, 24, of Sacramento, and Harrison Harden, 21, who is reportedly a transient, were arrested Nov. 23 in El Dorado County on charges of possessing stolen property, possessing a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest. Dasher and Harden have been linked to at least nine cases of burglary and vehicle theft in the Auburn city limits, according to Auburn Detective Dustin McLaughlin.The cases stem from several Nov. 22 calls the Auburn Police Department received of vehicle theft and home burglary on Mikkelsen Drive, Persimmon Terrace and Dorothy Way. Auburn police also believe Dasher and Harden are connected to a hit-and-run accident that occurred Nov. 23 in the SaveMart parking lot on Elm Avenue, McLaughlin said.Thousands of dollars of property was recovered in the stolen black SUV Dasher was driving Nov. 23, McLaughlin said. "It's probably going to be 10 reports all together," McLaughlin said. "A couple of the reports had multiple victims." Some of the stolen items included vehicle CD players, a coastguard suit, an air-conditioning unit, clothing, food, a toolbox full of tools and more, McLaughlin said. Dasher is currently in prison for violating parole, Detective Adam Cline said. Cline was not aware of which prison Dasher was being held in.Auburn police have sent reports on the two men to the Placer County District Attorney's Office, and if the office decides to prosecute, Dasher will be moved back to Placer County Jail, Cline said. "They will just hold him, and then, when we are ready … they will bring him back up," Cline said.Harden is currently out on bail from El Dorado County. "If (the District Attorney's Office) wants to file something against him, they will put a warrant out on him," Cline said.~ Bridget Jones
